Chinna, a mixed-heritage student, works on the cutting edge of Computational Biology, when, traumatised by events in her Cambridge lab, she stops eating and speaking. Still, her mind keeps spinning...

Spinning--

Until she falls between the words.

Here she was on on the verge of discovering everything--life, nature, evolutionary algorithm--

Then nothing.

Her dad takes Chinna, now sick, to Indonesia to recover, just as a pandemic hits.

Meanwhile Chinna’s mum Elektra, a Westerner still furiously fit at fifty, is in Bali, in a boutique-style hotel.

When Elektra is possibly infected, in order to survive, mother and daughter need to bridge old and new ways of thinking about evolution, nature and life, and close the distance between themselves.
